About The Coffs Coast

Home > Location > About The Coffs Coast

The Coffs Harbour area sits in a unique position where the Great Dividing Range descends to meet the Australian East Coast. Offshore are the Solitary Islands where the warm tropical currents meet the temperate waters from the south. In-between lies the city of Coffs Harbour.

Northward stretch great surf breaks and classic Australian beaches. To the south, seaside villages with great shopping and dining. To the west… lush valleys and welcoming rural communities.

Located on the east coast of Australia, mid-way between Brisbane and Sydney , the Coffs Coast stretches from Scotts Head in the South to Red Rock in the North and inland beyond the slopes of the Great Dividing Range. Offering a magnificent sub-tropical environment featuring golden beaches, cascading waterfalls and lush rain forests, the coffs Coast is one of the fastest growing and moist dynamic areas in regional New South Wales.

It is also one of Australia’s most recognised visitor destinations and an idyllic place to live or visit.

Coffs Harbour is the region’s main hub with the neighbouring councils of Nambucca and Bellingen making the collective Coffs Coast Region.

The population figures are:

Coffs Harbour:  70,371
Bellingen Shire: 13,450
Coffs Coast: 101,616
Growth rate: 1.9% (est 2008 figures)
